Surefire Beast Rechargeable Flashlight B1R has taken over the title of its limited-edition progenitor, SureFire B1R-BK Rechargeable Beast Light BR1-BK w/ Case, as the most powerful flashlight-type illumination tool SureFire has ever produced.

Despite its name, SureFire Beast II Spotlight is only 15.5 inches long and weighs just 4.5 pounds — quite manageable with one hand. But Surefire Beast-Light B1R can crank out a 2,000-lumen beam of tightly-focused white light, which is roughly equivalent to 130 two D-cell flashlights.

SureFire BeastLight II’s extraordinary light output comes from a High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp. This is the same type of lamp found in streetlights and stadium lights, but Surefire Beast-II Flashlight’s HID fits inside a reflector less than 4 inches in diameter. HID lamps of SureFire Beast-Flashlight are both extremely bright and extremely efficient, producing almost four times the lumen output of an incandescent lamp for an equal power input.

Originally designed for applications such as border patrol, maritime interdiction, search and rescue, and other situations requiring a super-rugged portable searchlight, Sure-Fire Beast Rechargeable Flash Light II w/ Case is also uniquely suited for a number of outdoor applications, such as boat navigation, landmark identification, wildlife identification or surveying, outdoor photography, and big-room caving. The utility of the original design has been increased by incorporating an array of 12 white light-emitting diodes into the Surefire Flashlight's reflector. The combined light output of these LEDs is about the same as a two D-cell flashlight, which allows Sure Fire Spotlight Beast 2 to function as a general-use light when the full blast of the Surefire HID lamp isn’t needed.

SureFire Beast II Powerful Search-Light performs under all weather conditions and is brutally tough — Sure-Fire Flashlight’s built from aerospace-grade aluminum with a hard-anodized finish, and is virtually immune to failure from mechanical shock because both the LEDs and the High-Intensity Discharge HID lamp have no filament to burn out or break.

Power is supplied to the SureFire Most Powerful Flashlight Beast II by twenty 123A lithium batteries held securely inside four cylindrical chambers machined into the SureFire flashlight body or by Surefire rechargeable handle. The energy-dense lithium batteries provide a remarkable runtime of 1.5 hours for the HID lamp and 20 hours for the LED array. Surefire Rechargeable Battery Handle provides a runtime of 2 hours for the HID lamp and 32 hours for the LED array.

SureFire B1R Beast Powerful Watertight HID / LED Flashlight features a unique rotary power ring switch located just below the head. To operate Surefire HID High Intensity Discharge Lamp, rotate the ring clockwise. To operate the LEDs, rotate counterclockwise. A lock-out tailcap of the SureFire B1R-BK Beast HID Searchlight prevents accidental activation during transport or storage.

SureFire Torches is a Southern California based company that produces precision tactical flashlights commonly used in the law enforcement and military fields. SureFire flashlights are also popular in the civilian market for personal, occupational, and self-defense purposes. The lights are often seen in TV shows and movies, such as the television show CSI.

SureFire produces flashlights of widely varying sizes and power outputs. These range from the tiny Titan to the hand-held M6 Guardian. Surefire also produces military weapon lights such as the Hellfire weapon-mounted searchlight for the M2HB machine gun or Mk 44 Minigun. One of SureFire's most popular products is the 6P Original. They also produce a line of LED flashlights which include features such as electronically-controlled power regulation (allowing them to run in both 6 volt and 9 volt bodies and with less battery power than necessary to light an incandescent bulb) and multiple levels of brightness. The company has moved from the Lumileds Luxeon LEDs to the more efficient Cree XR-E LEDs in some of the 2007 models. SureFire LED flashlights often have improved run time versus their incandescent lights of similar output

Most of the Surefire Flashlights are powered by lithium CR123A batteries that allow for compact size and low weight while offering high power output. SureFire produce their own brand of CR123As. Some of the flashlights are available with rechargeable battery packs.

SureFire torches and flashlights are primarily made of aluminum, usually mil-spec type II or III hard anodized finish in various colors. Some less expensive models are made from Nitrolon, a proprietary impact-resistant, non-conductive, glass-reinforced polymer.
